THE ARTIST PROJECT TORONTO: Opening Night Party

Inspiration abounds this entire weekend.

I almost didn’t make it! I have been struck with that cold that has been going around. I was knocked out in the afternoon and with little time to spare, after much too short of a cat nap I got up and got out. It was definitely worth it! (but I am paying for it today)

I worked the very first Artist Project Toronto at Liberty Grand. It was a fantastic event and loads of fun despite the stress of a weekend where we had the most intense snow storm ever in Toronto. We weren’t sure the people would come but they did!  Tear-down and commuting was an absolute nightmare though.

I have to say that although the inaugural year was great this year promises to be even better! Last night there were loads of local talent, great emerging artists, and interesting twists. And it was packed out!!! At times, there was no room to turn as the mob of art lovers moved en masse through the aisles.

Today, tomorrow and Sunday the Artist Project will be on at the Queen Elizabeth Building at the CNE. It is an event not to miss! And bring some $$$ as there is something there for every budget. With so much incredible work it would be a shame to walk away empty handed!

More info on hours and location here.

& don’t miss ART WALKS & ART CHATS starting tonight with International Curator, MAGDA GONZALEZ-MORA @ 7 pm.

“International curator, Magda Gonzalez-Mora, will discuss her experiences collecting and curating art for both private and public collections. She will explore the driving forces and influences behind many of these collections and the differences between personal, corporate, museum and gallery collections. She will offer guidance on how to start building an art collection, how to “educate your eye”, and how to make it an experience not just a purchase.” (sited from www.theartistprojecttoronto.com )

Below, 2 of my favourite GTA artists –  Nava Waxman and Ben Stansfield. Very different from each other but I like that they show the extreme ends of my aesthetic.
